Susie Carlino gained her degree in textiles design in 1991. After working
for a short while in the textile industry she found herself working for
a lighting company in London.
This was a perfect introduction to the effects of special effect lighting
giving a great insight into what materials work best with each application.
Working along side one of the best lighting guys in the business, Gerry
Calderhead (Future Projects) they would come up with basic ideas, which
together would develop and translate into numerous looks and designs.
Susie and Gerry have always bounced ideas off each other and are continuing
to experiment with new shapes in lighting and textures. This is exemplified
at the annual Southport Weekender, where for 16 years they have strived
to out do themeselves at every event.
From the beginning Susie realised how drapes alone can look good but together
with the right type of lighting the combination can really create magic.

Creativity
It´s not just a case of trying to give a client what they think they
want, but more a case of expanding their options by exploring
the possibility of what can be achieved within the time scale, venue and budget
stretch imaginatively. Having a complete understanding of production and lighting,
Susie is able to redefine draping like no-one else. One of her concepts is to
use invisible draping. By using fine netting in various ways she can create multi-dimensional
shapes that are brought to life when illuminated by lighting effects. By using
this concept you can create an amazing atmosphere of patterned light.
She has a flare for the abstract and thinks of her work as installations
creating shape and atmosphere. Recently Susie has been experimenting
a lot with organza fabrics to build modern, clean, sharp environments
but at the same
time capturing the softness that comes with the use of such a diaphanous
fabric.
Creative Draping uses the latest colour ranges and materials
to give variety and spice to your event so you don´t get stuck with
the same fabric each time.
These ranges are specially treated and certified.
Creative Draping
will tailor your needs by sewing the fabrics especially to fit
your venue, ensuring no two venues ever look the same.
